Focus sounds, binaural beats & sound therapy

One quiet place for focus, rest and sound therapy

mindspeace combines a sound mixer, a brainwave generator, a tone library, guided frequency sessions, a tinnitus tool and a focus timer. Everything is generated live in your browser, so it starts instantly, never repeats on an obvious loop and works without an account.

  1. Pick a scene for the mood. Each one comes with a matching soundscape.
  2. Shape the sound in Sounds: layer rain, fire, waves or a noise colour and set each level.
  3. Add a frequency from Brainwaves, Tones or a timed Session.
  4. Start a focus block. Desk mode keeps the screen awake so your phone becomes a calm desk clock.

Brainwave frequencies at a glance

BandRangeCommonly used for
Delta0.5 – 4 HzDeep sleep, recovery
Theta4 – 8 HzMeditation, daydreaming, creative flow
Schumann7.83 HzGrounding meditation
Alpha8 – 13 HzCalm, relaxed focus, reading
Beta13 – 30 HzActive thinking, problem solving
Gamma30 – 100 HzIntense concentration (40 Hz is the most popular)

These ranges describe brain activity measured by EEG. Listening to a beat in a range does not guarantee your brain will follow it; studies on entrainment show mixed results. Many people still find a steady rhythm helps them settle into a task.

Binaural beats vs. isochronic tones

Binaural beats play two close frequencies, one per ear (for example 195 Hz left and 205 Hz right). Your brain perceives the 10 Hz difference as a soft pulse. They need headphones.

Isochronic tones switch a single tone on and off at the beat rate. The pulse is in the sound itself, so they work on speakers and feel more pronounced.

In mindspeace you choose the delivery method, the beat frequency (0.5 – 100 Hz) and the carrier tone (60 – 600 Hz) freely. Lower carriers sound warmer; higher ones are clearer.

Noise colours: brown, pink, white, green and more

  • Brown noise: deep, rumbling, like a waterfall or airplane cabin. A favourite in the ADHD community for calming a busy mind.
  • Pink noise: balanced and soft, like steady rain. Often used for reading and sleep.
  • White noise: bright and even. The best at covering voices in an office.
  • Green noise: focused on the middle frequencies, close to the sound of nature.
  • Blue and grey noise: brighter or perceptually flat alternatives; some people with tinnitus prefer them.

Solfeggio frequencies and 432 Hz

The Solfeggio set (174, 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852 and 963 Hz) and 432 Hz tuning are popular in meditation and sound-healing traditions. There is no strong scientific evidence for specific healing effects, but many people enjoy them as a gentle, steady tone for relaxation. The soft shimmer option blends three voices so the tone feels warm instead of clinical.

Tinnitus sound therapy

First, match the pitch of your tinnitus with the probe tone, checking an octave up and down. Then choose a therapy sound:

  • Notched noise plays broadband noise with one octave around your pitch removed. Some research suggests this may reduce tinnitus loudness over weeks of regular listening, though results vary.
  • Masking plays noise centred on your pitch so the ringing blends into the background.

Keep the level below your tinnitus, listen in short sessions and talk to an audiologist or ENT doctor, especially if your tinnitus is new, one-sided or pulsing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need headphones?

Only for binaural beats, because each ear must receive a slightly different tone. Isochronic tones, pure tones, nature sounds and noise colours work on normal speakers.

Which frequency is best for studying?

People commonly use Alpha (8–13 Hz) for calm reading and writing, Beta (13–30 Hz) for active problem solving and 40 Hz Gamma for intense concentration. Research results on brainwave entrainment are mixed, so treat these as starting points and keep what feels helpful.

Does brown noise help with ADHD?

Many people with ADHD report that brown noise makes it easier to focus. Studies on background noise and attention (mostly white and pink noise) show modest benefits for some people; brown noise itself has been studied very little. It is a low-risk tool to try at a comfortable volume, not a treatment.

Is it safe to listen for hours?

Keep the volume low enough that you could hold a conversation over it and take breaks. If you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, talk to your doctor before using pulsing tones such as binaural beats or isochronic tones.

Can mindspeace help with tinnitus?

Sound therapy can make tinnitus less noticeable for some people. mindspeace lets you match your tinnitus pitch and play notched noise (with your pitch removed) or masking noise around it. It is not a medical device; please see an audiologist or ENT doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

Does the sound keep playing when the screen is off?

On desktop and most Android browsers, yes. iPhone and iPad may pause web audio when the screen locks. Use Desk mode, which keeps the screen awake, or add mindspeace to your home screen.

Is mindspeace free?

Yes. There is no account, download or paywall. All sound is generated live in your browser.
